Deer You takes sustainability seriously and we actively implement processes and initiatives to ensure we are a responsible fashion business.
We are committed to continue to learn and evolve as we strive to do even more to ensure we are protecting our beautiful planet.
Below are a few of the initiatives we have already embraced that support our local communities and protect our natural environment:
Natural and Sustainable Fabrics: We choose to use naturally derived fabrics such as cotton, silk and linen in our production.
Up-cycled and repurposed fabric: We use Deadstock fabric where possible in our collections. Deadstock is any fabric that has been produced for a company or fashion brand that has not been used. We can now buy this surplus fabric which would previously have gone to landfill. Now this fabric is finding new purpose and is being embraced by small businesses just like Deer You who breathe new life into these fabrics.
Slow Fashion commitment to product lifecycle: We take a slow approach to producing clothing which takes into consideration all aspects of the supply chain and in doing so, aims to respect people, the environment, and animals. It also means we spend more time on the design process, ensuring that each piece of apparel is quality made to ensure that it lasts a lifetime of wears as well as ensuring styles created are timeless and can outlast fashion trends.
Plastic Free, Recycled and Biodegradable Packaging: Our sustainable and eco-friendly packaging is from an Australian company that ensures they can control the environmental and ethical impacts of the packaging they produce. The packaging is 100% Compostable & Eco-Friendly.
Our Swing tags and garment labels are all sustainable.
We do not use plastic in any part of our supply chain.
Made in Australia: Local manufacturing in Australia that is ethically compliant.
Happy Workers: All workers are paid minimum or above NSW award rates for wages and work in a safe environment, compliant with local health and safety regulations.
Support Small Business: We support and partner with Australian businesses and wherever possible female owned Australian businesses.
